The following indicates the main changes that are taking place. Please refer to the individual timetable pages for full details.
Route 119/120 – Seaford Local Services
Route 119 will continue to be operated under contract to ESCC. The bus will also work Seahaven School journeys and journeys to Alfriston so there will be some minor service reduction Monday to Friday but an improved Saturday morning service.
Route 120 will be operated by Compass under contract to ESCC Saturday afternoons only hourly as present; Monday to Friday and Saturday morning service will be provided by Cuckmere Buses.
Route 121: Lewes – Cooksbridge – Chailey – Newick
Revised timetable to be operated on a commercial basis. Frequency reduction Monday to Friday but hourly frequency maintained between Lewes and Coooksbridge jointly with revised Route 261. Saturday and Summer Sunday service with extension to Bluebell Railway and Sheffield Park Garden to be continued.
Route 123: Lewes – Kingston – Newhaven
Revised timetable to be operated on a commercial basis between Lewes and Newhaven only with one morning schooldays journey commencing East Saltdean. Frequency reduction Monday to Friday. Saturday and Summer Sunday service to be continued.
Route 125 “The Downsman”: Lewes – Firle – Berwick – Alfriston – Polegate – Eastbourne
New commercial route giving access to many places of interest in the South Downs National Park and running Mondays to Saturdays.
Route 126: Eastbourne – Alfriston – Seaford
Replaced by new route 125 between Eastbourne and Alfriston. Some journeys on Routes 119 and 126 will run between Seaford and Alfriston Mondays to Saturdays under contract to ESCC supplementing Cuckmere Buses journeys over this section. Sunday service to be continued by Cuckmere Buses.
Route 127: Lewes – Landport Estate
Hourly frequency Mondays to Saturdays
Route 128 Lewes – Nevill Estate
Hourly frequency Mondays to Saturdays
Route 129: Lewes – Malling – Winterbourne
Operated under contract to ESCC. Approximately hourly Monday to Saturday to Malling, and two hourly to Winterbourne and Spences Lane.
Route 143: Lewes – Hailsham – Eastbourne
Operating commercially daytime and with peak hour buses under contract to ESCC. Monday to Friday frequency retained (proposed originally to be reduced to two days per week). Extra shopping journey from Hailsham to Lewes after 0900.
Route 145 Newhaven Local Service
Operated under contract to ESCC. Service will continue Mondays to Saturdays but frequency reduced to two hourly. Will link with Route 123 to provide through service to/from Lewes.
Route 166: Lewes – Plumpton – Haywards Heath
Service will continue Mondays to Fridays (proposed originally for reduction off peak to two days per week).
Route 167/168 “Village Rider” Lewes – Ditchling – Burgess Hill and Burgess Hill Circular
Operated under contract to ESCC replacing Route 824; service will operate off peak four days per week rather than two as originally proposed. Peak hour service will run as now Monday to Friday.
Route 261: Lewes – Cooksbridge – Barcombe – Uckfield – Nutley – East Grinstead
Extended route replacing Route 125 between Lewes and Barcombe and running on to Uckfield and East Grinstead providing a number of exciting new travel opportunities. The service will run Mondays to Saturdays rather than just two days per week as originally proposed and external funding has been secured to add a Saturday service. Early Saturday morning and later Monday to Saturday facilities for Barcombe residents will be provided by extension of Route 121 journeys at these times. Due to poor patronage Chelwood Gate will no longer be served (alternative facilities on Metrobus 270 and weekly shopping bus to Uckfield).
Routes 317/318/355: Heathfield Area
Will no longer be operated by Compass
Routes 492/493: Seahaven Academy
New schoolday only routes operated under contract to ESCC.
