Child fares are available to anyone under 16 years old with a valid proof of age on any service starting or finishing in West Sussex.
Further to this anyone aged 16 to 20 will be able to purchase a 16 to 20 Bus Saver ticket directly from the driver, which will be the same price as the existing child rate. The scheme applies to any direct bus travel starting or finishing in West Sussex. Before travelling, make sure to bring a valid proof of age – as an alternative to carrying official documents like passports and birth certificates, Citizencard will be accepted.

East Sussex
Adult and child single fares are capped at £3.00 per single journey on most services – click here for more details and included routes. The £3.00 fare has impacted other fares which need to be adjusted to ensure fairness and continuity in the fare structure.
Adult single fares below the £3.00 fare cap are reduced on most services*: Fares between £1 and £2 are reduced to £1, and fares between £2 and £2.90 are reduced to £2. Child single fares below the £3.00 fare cap are reduced on most services*: Fares under £1 are reduced to 50p, fares between £1 and £1.70 are reduced to £1, fares between £1.70 and £2.10 are reduced to £1.50, fares between £2.10 and £2.55 are reduced to £2 and fares between £2.55 and £2.95 are reduced to £2.50. These offers end on 31 March 2026 (* – services 318, 227 and 468 are not included).
Child fares are available to anyone aged under 19 years old with a valid proof of age ID on any service starting or finishing in East Sussex.
Further to this, up to four children travel for just 50p per single journey with an adult at all times of the day, but also unaccompanied children can travel off peak for £1.00 per single journey (Off peak is after 18:00 hours Monday to Friday, but all day on bank holidays, weekends and school holiday weekdays).

Surrey
Adult and child single fares are capped at £3.00 per single journey on most services – click here for more details and included routes. The £3.00 fare has impacted other fares which need to be adjusted to ensure fairness and continuity in the fare structure.
The Surrey LINK Card allows young people aged 20 or under who live in Surrey access to cheaper fares. On Compass Travel services 43, 45 and 625 this will give Child fare rates to LINK Card holders on single, return and weekly fares. On all other Compass Travel services LINK Card holders can get a £1.50 single flat fare anywhere and access to child rate returns and weekly tickets.

Brighton & Hove
Adult and child single fares are capped at £3.00 per single journey on all our services in Brighton – click here for more details. Short journeys within the Brighton & Hove City Council area previously priced at £1.70 are now £1.00 until 31 January 2025. A lower fare has been introduced across the citySAVER area for medium length journeys up to two stages as an ongoing saving at £2.80, previously £3.20. Journeys over three or more fare stage remain at £3.20 but capped at £3.00 until 31 December 2025.
Child fares are available to anyone aged under 19 years old with a valid proof of age ID (including BusID) on our CityBuzz 37/37B services in Brighton.
Further to this, up to four children travel free with an adult at all times of the day, but also unaccompanied children can travel off peak for 50p (Off peak is after 18:00 hours Monday to Friday, but all day on bank holidays, weekends and school holiday weekdays).
