Service 42 – Hascombe Closure from 19th August 2019

Updated 13th August 2019

Thames Water need to completely close The Street in Hascombe to traffic, to enable long-overdue replacement of the water main, between Mare Lane and The White Horse pub.

This will be from 19 August until 13th September 2019.

Due to the nature of local roads and the length of detour that would be required, it will be impossible to maintain service 42 in its complete form or to maintain the normal timetable, whilst The Street in Hascombe is closed.

We will therefore operate the 42 service for the duration in three separate segments:

  • Guildford to Busbridge (Home Farm Road) via Farncombe and Godalming.
  • Godalming town centre to Hascombe (Mare Lane) using a minibus – a FREE service direct to/from Godalming.
  • Hascombe (White Horse) to Cranleigh via Dunsfold, Alfold Crossways and  Elmbridge Retirement Village.

The revised timetable is available by clicking HERE – details will also be posted at bus stops and on the Surrey County Council website.

Compass Bus and Surrey County Council are extremely grateful to Thames Water who are funding additional operating costs, including the provision of the minibus to allow the area of Hascombe at the north end of the road closure to continue to receive a bus link to Godalming.

Unfortunately, due to the road closure, we are unable to operate between Alfold, Dunsfold and Hascombe (White Horse) on Saturdays 10, 17 and 24 August 2019.

Thames Water, Compass Bus and Surrey County Council apologise for any inconvenience caused by these necessary works.

If you require further information or wish to speak to someone regarding where to catch your bus, please call 01903 690025.
